Wantagh (pronounced /WAHN-taw/) is a hamlet that consists of two census-designated places in Nassau County, New York, United States. The portion of Wantagh that is north of Jerusalem Avenue is considered North Wantagh, and the portion south of Jerusalem Avenue is considered just Wantagh or sometimes even "South" Wantagh.
Wantagh is in the southeastern part of the Town of Hempstead. It serves as a suburb of New York City on Long Island. The city is easily accessible through roads and commuter rail.
Bellmore serves as a suburb of New York City on Long Island. The city is easily accessible through a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Babylon Branch. Also, John F. Kennedy Int'l Airport is located within 15 miles (24 km) of Bellmore, making it easy for travelers. Major thoroughfares that wind through the suburb include Sunrise Highway, Southern State Parkway, Merrick Road, Bellmore Avenue, Jerusalem Avenue, and Newbridge Road.
Long Island is an island located in southeastern New York, United States, just east of Manhattan. With a land area of 1,401 square miles Long Island is the 11th largest island in the United States, the 148th largest island in the world, larger than any U.S. territory except Puerto Ricoand just smaller than the state of Rhode Island (1545 sq mi).
